Karoline Leavitt announced her pregnancy on Friday afternoon.
Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, announced she is pregnant with her second child, a girl, in an Instagram post shared the day after Christmas.
“2026 is going to be a great year,” Leavitt said in her Instagram announcment. “I am so excited to be a girl mom!”
Leavitt’s announcement marks a first in U.S. history, making her the first sitting White House press secretary to be pregnant while holding the role.
The position has historically been held by men or women without young children, placing Leavitt’s announcement in a unique context inside the West Wing.
The White House has not indicated that Leavitt’s pregnancy will affect her duties or briefing schedule. She did not provide a due date in her post.
